About our Preliminary Studies Programme

The Preliminary Year in Medicine is designed as a preparatory phase for students who have completed their secondary education and wish to pursue a medical degree (MBBS). This year serves as a foundation year, focusing on core science subjects and essential medical concepts that will aid students in succeeding in the rigorous medical program ahead.

Key Features:

-Duration: Typically one academic year (2 semesters).

- Objective: To build a strong foundation in basic sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, which are crucial for success in the medical field.

- Curriculum: Students are exposed to courses that focus on human biology, organic chemistry, basic physics, and introductory medical concepts. Additionally, courses on scientific research methods, ethics in medicine.

- Evaluation: Assessment is based on examinations, continuous assessments, and sometimes practical evaluations in laboratories.

- Progression: Upon successful completion of the preliminary year and achieving the required grades, students are admitted into the main medical program (MBBS), where they begin preclinical studies.

Admission Requirements:

- Academic Background: Applicants are expected to have a strong background in science subjects, especially Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, from their secondary education.
